I’ve been in the trenches for over 13 years, mostly in ICU and PICU. I started with that bright-eyed, “I’m going to save the world” energy, but the constant overtime and a serious caffeine dependency began to catch up with me. I loved caring for patients, but I also wanted more freedom, flexibility, and time for my family.
